Scholar's Academy and the Little Scholar's Preschool,
Principal Steve McClenning.
(An independent Charter School)
First we performed indoors for the little ones.
Here they are shown (below) getting ready to sing with us.
Vecca-The-Show-Dog is very well behaved.
She was offered a drink of water before our concert.
Randy started the concert by saying that we are happy to be
there, and glad to share our music with them.
The children clap as they sing with us.
We are singing Vecca to sleep.
We always show children different instruments.
Pete Henderson explains the stand up bass instrument.
Pete sang Vecca-The-Show-Dog to sleep.
Eddie Boggs is talking to the children about the song we
are going to sing for them (below). That is Margaret Dewey
standing next to the wall with the clock on it.
Then it was time to set up the sound equipment outside this
classroom and get ready for the big kids' concert.
Some boys were shooting baskets next to where we were setting
up the sound equipment, and Dave took a few minutes to teach
this young man how to make perfect shots into the basket.
Imagine learning Basketball tips from the Uncle of John Denver!
Vecca spent sound check, and the first part of the concert,
in the shade of the truck, next to her cold drinking water.
Our audience started settling in.
Joe Van Hook is in the blue shirt next to the bus. He has
his camera set up to take photos of our concert.
Randy explained that we respect their kind of music, and just want
to let them know about Folk Music. They might like that too. He said
that we want to put more colors in their paint box.
The teachers brought the little children out of the classroom
to hear our concert, but it was too hot for them so they went back inside.
Those kids, and the teachers, are some of the nicest people that we
have met. We really enjoyed them! The kids were polite and some of them
were talking about learning more about music, and history through songs,
as we left. I hope we get to share our music with them again. Great kids!
